As a child growing up in Ghana (formerly Gold Coast), Emefa often heard tales of impoverished people finding nuggets of gold on the ground after it rained, leading to a fascination with finding treasure in unsuspecting places. This body of work is heavily influenced by Geology and the constant changes of our world; the process of erosion and the array of surface textures created by this process. Emefa is captivated by the revelation of precious materials which would otherwise remain hidden if not for erosion or mining.

Inspired by the destructive yet beautiful nature of the Earth’s magnificent and awesome volcanoes and its stunning range of rich, deep and alluring colours. A vital source of life and renewal. Like archaeological finds concealed for centuries, Emefa Cole pieces are timeless and quite literally down-to-end. Not only do they symbolise nature’s renewal and formation process, but wearing a ring, necklace or bracelet will capture the intimate experience of having nature close to hand.
